Mahindra recently made significant updates to its XUV400 SUV, particularly focusing on its interior and feature list. These enhancements bring the XUV400 closer to its competitors, particularly the Tata Nexon EV. While we’ve delved into the upgrades separately, let’s now address a crucial aspect: the real-world range of the Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro.

Powertrain Insights

The Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro variant is equipped with a 39.5 kWh battery pack and a 110 kW motor, boasting 148bhp/310Nm. Paired with a single-speed transmission that drives the front wheels, the vehicle offers three driving modes and an L mode for enhanced regenerative braking. With a 0-100kmph time of 8.3 seconds, it stands as a formidable competitor in its segment.

Charging Capabilities

For charging convenience, the Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro offers three options. The basic 3.3kW AC charger provides a full charge in 13.5 hours, while the 7.2kW charger accomplishes the task in 6.5 hours. Additionally, utilizing a 50kW DC fast charger enables the vehicle to reach a full charge from 10-100 per cent in just 50 minutes.

Range

Mahindra claims an official range of 456km for the EL Pro 39.4 kWh model. During our real-world test, we charged the battery to 100 per cent, displaying a DTE (Distance to Empty) of 278km in the default mode.

At the 75 per cent battery level, we covered 67.2km, with the trip computer indicating a remaining range of 209km.

As we reached the 50 per cent mark, our journey totaled 129.3km, with a projected range of 138km.

Upon reaching 10 per cent battery capacity, we had traveled 228.2km, with a DTE of 24km. Eventually, at zero percent, the vehicle traveled an additional 27.8km before coming to a halt at 256km.
