Electric vehicles (EVs) are revolutionizing the world of two-wheelers, and cruisers are no exception to this trend. Despite holding a significant share of the overall two-wheeler market, cruisers lacked electric options until recently. However, the landscape is changing with the introduction of India’s second electric cruiser bike, the MX Moto M16, following the Komaki Ranger’s footsteps.
Design and Power
The MX Moto M16 boasts a distinctive split frame design, with the battery serving as a stressed member. It features a 3.96 kWh capacity battery pack, offering a claimed range of approximately 160-220km on a single charge. Remarkably, charging the battery from 0 to 90 percent takes only about 3 hours.
Powering this cruiser is a 4000W BLDC hub-mounted motor, generating a torque of 140Nm, complemented by regenerative braking facilitated by the 80A controller.
Performance and Handling
Equipped with an inverted fork at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear, the MX Moto M16 ensures a smooth and controlled ride. It features dual 320mm front disc brakes and a 240mm disc brake at the rear, providing reliable stopping power. Riding on 110-section front and 140-section rear tires with 17-inch wheels, this cruiser offers stability and agility on the road.
Features
The MX Moto M16 is not just about power and performance; it’s also packed with advanced features. A fully-digital TFT instrument console, smartphone connectivity, and navigation through the MXMOTO app elevate the riding experience.
Additional amenities include cruise control, reverse assist, anti-skid/hill assist, and park assist. The electric cruiser also boasts a dynamic LED headlight, LED turn indicators, and taillight, ensuring visibility and safety on every ride.
Road Ahead
With the launch of India’s first all-metal body electric cruiser, the MX Moto M16, the EV landscape in the country is evolving rapidly. It will be fascinating to observe how Indian customers, known for their discerning taste in vehicles, respond to this innovative offering from MX Moto.
