All three 250cc bikes from Suzuki share the same 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Certain batches showed abnormal exhaust cam lobe wear which causes stalling or noise issues hence triggering the recall.
The recall affects Suzuki's core portfolio in India - the Gixxer 250 street naked, SF250 faired and V-Strom SX 250 ADV bike.
Suzuki dealers are contacting owners of affected batches for inspection and will replace parts at no cost to customer.
Though the issue is diagnosed, Suzuki hasn't specified the exact reason causing premature cam wear.
Common engine with similar tuning across the models makes replacing affected parts easier in the recall exercise.
Barring V-Strom, the Gixxer and SF250 models were updated in Feb 2023 explaining lower affected batches.
